El fallo del jurado del Premio Castilla y Le\u00f3n de las Artes, en su edici\u00f3n correspondiente a 2009, acord\u00f3 hoy, por unanimidad, conceder este galard\u00f3n a Santiago Mart\u00edn S\u00e1nchez, \u201d\u02dcEl Viti\u201d\u2122, por su trayectoria profesional como matador de toros, \u201ccuya dilatada carrera le llev\u00f3 a alcanzar las cimas de la tauromaquia\u201d\u009d. \u201c\u201d\u02dcEl Viti\u201d\u2122 pase\u00f3 por todas la plazas del mundo el nombre de Castilla y Le\u00f3n con una maestr\u00eda convertida en constante reivindicaci\u00f3n de este arte, del cual siempre se ha mostrado un defensor inigualable\u201d\u009d, seg\u00fan figura en el acta del jurado. <\/span><\/div>\n
Santiago Mart\u00edn S\u00e1nchez naci\u00f3 en 1938 en Vitigudino (Salamanca). Debut\u00f3 con picadores en Ledesma en 1957 y se present\u00f3 en Las Ventas en 1960. All\u00ed tom\u00f3 la alternativa un a\u00f1o m\u00e1s tarde con Gregorio S\u00e1nchez como padrino y Diego Puerta de testigo, cuando cort\u00f3 una oreja a cada uno de sus toros y sali\u00f3 por la puerta grande…. <\/span><\/div>\n
